Horror Films
Scary movies have been around for quite awhile just like all movies but throughout the 1970's they became even more gruesome and scarier than they were before. Some of the biggest block busters of that time like most of the movies in the 70's were remade and they have their own new twist to them. But for the 1970's those kinds of horror films had never been made before so therefore starting a whole new version of scare tactics. They seemed very frightening at the time when they came out because they were so much more original and never been seen before. Now a days the remade movies don't seem as bad, but that's because they have been seen and remade so many times they lose their originality.
Serial Horror Films
The serial killer aspect of horror movies back then were scarier not only because they were new but also because at that time some of those events were happening around the world. Like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was based off of true events in Texas which gave the movie a bit more edge for fright. Also Michael Myers in Halloween proved to be a thriller of the ages because not only was he a mass serial killer, he never died making him more of a frightening character.
Zombies and Vampires
The undead series was something totally new and different to the world of movies in the 1970's. Taking the original meaning of zombies from harmless and mindless slaves of Africa to a viral pandemic of bloodthirsty, cannibalistic, flesh eating humans. The zombie aspect of movies became an instant favorite now having so many versions of zombie movies they have become like the different versions of vampires. Just like the zombies, vampires have multiple versions. They started out as something totally different to what they are now. The undead series of movies brought something to completely new to the horror films. Today both horror films are admired and enjoyable to watch with so many different aspects as to what they are and how they work.
